KANNUR: Two people were caught in strong waves in Payyambalam in Kannur on Saturday. It is reported that the two are natives of Karnataka on a pilgrimage visit to Kottiyoor in Kannur. One of them was rescued while the search is ongoing for the other.

It was by 12 30 pm that the four Karnataka natives reached the beach after their pilgrimage at Kottiyoor. The sea was violent, and two were caught in the waves. The lifeguards rescued one while the search for Bengaluru native Santhosh Kumar, a college student, is ongoing.

Similarly, an eight-member gang from Karnataka entered the beach on Saturday morning and got caught in the waves. The lifeguards made a timely intervention and rescued them. Tragically, just hours after this incident, another four-member gang from Karnataka entered the beach unaware of the destructive force of the waves.

As per locals, the sea is rough, and the search for the missing person is ongoing for more than two hours.
