ANTHIKAD: Former MLA’s personal assistant was arrested in the case of embezzling Rs 85,400 as overtime duty allowance from the assembly by using a fake signature. Masood K. Vinod, who was the PA of former CPI MLA C.C. Mukundan of Nattika, was arrested. He has also worked as the PA of former minister V.S. Sunil Kumar.

According to the case, Masood received the allowance by doctoring a document using the MLA's fake signature and seal on the pretext of attending the assembly session between June 2021 and December 2023. The case was registered by the Thiruvananthapuram Museum Police in 2024 on the complaint filed by former national spokesperson of the Youth Congress, A.A. Muhammed Hashim.

Later, the case was transferred to the Anthikad station in March 2025. Masood, who was absconding after the High Court rejected his anticipatory bail, was arrested in the early hours of the previous day. He has been remanded. Masood was removed from CC Mukundan's personnel staff in January 2024 after various irregularities came to light.
