THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has ordered an immediate investigation into the decision to grant parole to five convicts in the high-profile Kasaragod Periya double murder case.

The Home Minister has directed Biswanath Sinha, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the parole and to submit a detailed report at the earliest. Officials stated that subsequent legal and administrative actions will be determined based on the findings of the report.

The controversial parole approvals were cleared by the Prison Department during the final days of the outgoing LDF administration.
Those currently out on parole include the prime accused alongside four other co-defendants in the murder case.
