KOTHAMANGALAM: Police have concluded that the death of Aayesh, a 20-year-old B.Tech student from Thiruvananthapuram studying at Mar Athanasius (MA) Engineering College in Kothamangalam, was a suicide. Aayesh was found lying on the ground after falling from the sixth floor of the college hostel on Thursday evening. He died later that night while undergoing treatment.

The Kothamangalam police reached the conclusion after an investigation that took into account the preliminary post-mortem findings. Inspector P. J. Kuriakose said the investigation was still underway.

Aayesh's relatives have demanded an impartial investigation, maintaining that there was no reason for him to take his own life. They have also alleged that the college authorities informed the family about the incident late. A post-mortem examination was conducted at Kalamassery Medical College under the supervision of a police surgeon. The body was later handed over to the relatives.
