THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has warned that partial power restrictions may be imposed across the state today, specifically after 7:00 p.m., due to a significant surge in electricity consumption.
The board attributed the rising demand to a recent decline in rainfall and a concurrent increase in atmospheric temperatures. According to KSEB officials, the shift in weather patterns is expected to drive up daily power consumption by approximately 300 to 400 megawatts compared to previous days.
The KSEB stated that if it is unable to procure the necessary additional power through the power exchange to meet this spike in demand, partial load shedding or controlled power restrictions will become unavoidable. Consumers have been advised to brace for potential outages during peak evening hours as the utility manages the supply-demand gap.
