THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The public service commissions’ claim that there is nothing to hide in the examination irregularities was proven false. This comes after PSC rejected the Right to Information Commission's order to provide the details of the controversial examination in the Planning Board to a candidate within 7 days. The PSC has also decided to approach the High Court against the order.

Candidate K. Shyam Krishnan sought information about the Chief Examiner of the Planning Board's Industry and Infrastructure Department. However, the PSC announced that it will not share the marks of the examination and interview of those included in the rank list.

The post of Chief of Industry and Infrastructure carries a salary of Rs 1.5 lakh. A public examination was also conducted for the posts of Chief of Perspective Planning Division and Chief of Planning Coordination Division. The PSC also says that the rank list for Chief of Perspective Planning has not been released. There were two examinations, each for all three posts. One of these was a general paper. The PSC is reluctant to release its mark information.

In July 2023, 228 people wrote the public examination. The rank list was released in May 2025. First-ranked Arun J. Pratap was appointed as the Industry and Infrastructure Chief. He was a leader of the Left Service Organisation. Third-ranked K. Shyam Krishnan approached for the answer sheet after having doubts about the marks.

  • Only one person was shortlisted for the post of Perspective Planning Chief. The PSC said that no one else had specified qualifications. If the interview is held again, the rank list will be made. With this, those who were excluded from the shortlist approached the Central Administrative Tribunal. Then the interview was cancelled.
  • The PSC Examination Controller's preliminary investigation revealed that ten questions in the public examination were not marked, and there was a lapse. Subsequently, the Internal Vigilance SP was assigned for further investigation. The Crime Branch investigation is also underway.
