Jeep hits man during police chase; four cops suspended for hospital lapse

THRISSUR: Four police personnel, including a sub-inspector, attached to the Puthukkad police station have been suspended for failing to take an injured man to hospital after a police jeep hit him while officers were chasing a criminal gang.
Those suspended are Sub-Inspector C.M. Mahesh and civil police officers M.U. Faisal, E.C. Yadukrishnan and P.D. Naveenkumar.

The accident occurred on July 19 while the police team was pursuing a criminal gang that had allegedly been involved in a fight at a roadside food stall. Varandarappilly native Abhishek was injured after being hit by the police jeep.

Abhishek, who fell from his motorcycle, was not taken to hospital by the police officers. Thrissur DIG T. Narayanan took action against the police personnel in connection with the incident.
