Rain and thunderstorms expected from tomorrow until Thiruvonam; Alert issued in several districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an updated rain warning for Kerala. As heavy rainfall is likely in the coming days, a yellow alert has been issued in several districts. Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod will be under yellow alert tomorrow (Sunday).

Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur are likely to receive heavy rainfall next Monday, and a yellow alert has been issued in these districts. Isolated areas are predicted to receive heavy rain. The weather department has advised people to remain cautious as rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours is possible.

The department has also warned that, in isolated parts of the state, thunderstorms and strong winds, along with rain, are likely from tomorrow through August 25.
