'15 days to make corrections'; Mayor VV Rajesh's ultimatum to theatre owners

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Mayor VV Rajesh held discussions with theatre owners regarding the excessive pricing of food items in movie theatres. The Mayor demanded that theatres be prepared to comply with the licensing norms and stop disallowing food for children brought from outside by people. The Mayor told the media that the corporation does not have the authority to control the prices of products sold in theatres.

“Directions have been given to provide free, clean drinking water. There should be no obstacles in bringing children's food inside. Vehicle parking facilities should be provided. Licensing norms should not be violated. There will be no lapse on the part of the corporation in these matters. Theatre owners have been given 15 days to make corrections.

The corporation squad will conduct an inspection. Special care should be taken during body checks, and women should only be examined by women officials. Parking facilities should be arranged inside the theatre. There will be no compromise on fire and safety standards,” said the mayor.
