THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The organs of Rudresh, a 17-year-old boy who was declared brain-dead following a motorcycle accident, will give a new lease of life to six people. Seven organs of Rudresh, a native of Melarannoor in Thiruvananthapuram, are being donated.

The accident occurred around 11 pm on Monday at Killippalam in Karamana when a dog suddenly crossed in front of the motorcycle on which Rudresh and his friend were travelling. Rudresh sustained serious injuries and was admitted to PRS Hospital in Killippalam, where he was later declared brain-dead.

One of his kidneys will be donated to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, while the other kidney, pancreas and liver will be donated to KIMS Hospital in Kochi. His corneas will be donated to the Eye Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

However, his heart could not be donated after preliminary tests conducted ahead of the surgery detected a minor problem with the organ.
Rudresh was the son of Suresh B. and Ramyadevi. He was a Plus Two student at Thirumala AMHSS.
