Samastha General Secretary Prof. K. Alikutty Musliyar passes away at 81

PERINTHALMANNA: Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama General Secretary Prof. K. Alikutty Musliyar passed away on Thursday. He was 81. He had been undergoing treatment for age-related ailments at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna. His funeral will be held at 10 am on Friday at the Tirurkad Juma Masjid cemetery.

Prof. Alikutty Musliyar became the General Secretary of Samastha in 2016, following the demise of Cherussery Zainuddeen Musliyar. He also served as the Qazi of several mahals, including those in Kasaragod, and was the Principal of Jamia Nooriya Arabic College, Pattikkad. He had served as the Vice Chairman of the Central Haj Committee and the Chairman of the Kerala State Haj Committee. He was also a special invitee to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and the Fiqh Council of the Muslim World League.

Born in 1945 at Irumbuzhi in Malappuram district, he was the son of Tirurkad Kunnath Moosa Haji and Madambi Iyyathutty. Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and several other prominent leaders condoled his death.

He is survived by his wives, Fathima and Nafeesa, and children Moosa Faizy, Abubacker Faizy, Khadeeja, Zainaba, Maimoona, Mariyam, and Hafsa.
