Transportation stalled as tree falls on road in heavy rain; patient in ambulance dies

PALAKKAD: A patient, who was stuck in an ambulance after a tree fell on the Attappadi pass and blocked traffic, has died. Sajeev Kumar of Vellamari Unnathi, died after being delayed in getting treatment. Sajeev, who was in a critical condition due to high fever and breathing issues, was being shifted from Kottathara Tribal Specialty Hospital to Thrissur Medical College in an ambulance equipped with a ventilator when the incident occurred.

The ambulance reached the pass last evening at around 7 pm. He had to lie on the road for about an hour after a tree fell on the way. By the time the ambulance reached Thrissur Medical College, he had lost his life. The Attappadi pass is the only way to go to other places from Attappadi. Trees often fall on the pass and block traffic during the rainy season.
