Jumped into river after speaking with husband over phone; woman rescued by Fire Force

KANNUR: A woman who jumped into the river from Iritty Bridge was rescued on Monday. The incident occurred around 10:30 am, shortly after she spoke with her husband over the phone. A lorry driver passing through the area witnessed the incident and immediately stopped his vehicle before raising an alarm. Hearing the commotion, a migrant worker who was nearby entered the river in an attempt to rescue the woman but later became exhausted.

Later, Prajod from Muzhakkunnu reached the spot and entered the river to help rescue both the woman and the worker. Meanwhile, the fire and rescue team arrived and successfully pulled them out of the water. The woman and the migrant worker were taken to a hospital for treatment.
