THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Describing the chief minister’s post as a divine responsibility, Kerala Chief Minister-designate V D Satheesan said the Congress party has entrusted him with a huge responsibility. He was speaking at his first press meet after being selected as the chief minister. Satheesan said it was team UDF that shaped him into the leader he is today.

‘After ending a ten-year-long rule, the people have brought us to power with 102 seats. We will fulfil every promise we made to the people one by one. With complete dedication, all of us together will work hard to improve the quality of people’s lives, transform Kerala, build a new Kerala and usher in a new era. The chief minister’s post is not an individual achievement. There are many people who helped me reach here. Ramesh Chennithala and K C Venugopal are my beloved leaders. No one can achieve anything alone; only a team can make things happen. My heartfelt thanks to everyone,’ he said.

After ten days of wait, Satheesan was officially announced as Kerala’s new Chief Minister in Delhi by Deepa Dasmunsi, the AICC general secretary in charge of Kerala. K C Venugopal, the AICC general secretary in charge of the organization, did not attend the press meet when the official announcement was made. The swearing-in ceremony of the UDF government is likely to be held on Monday at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
