Beware bikers! Danger lurking on Ponmudi road, concern over frequent accidents

VITHURA: A complaint surfaced about a private company's cable, stretched out on the road near the Vithura Thottumukku Perayathupara junction on the Ponmudi-Thiruvananthapuram state highway, inviting accidents in the area.

The cable fell on the road following heavy rain the previous day. Many accidents have already occurred due to motorcycles tumbling on it. Recently, a bike was overturned, and two people were injured. Despite a week after the incident, the cable has not yet been replaced. This cable is located in an area with high vehicle traffic.

Moreover, this dangerous situation on the main road is tangling traffic for tourists heading to Ponmudi, Bonacaud, Peppara and Kallar areas. Moreover, during the rains, the drains fill up, and water flows along Ponmudi Road. With this, garbage is also accumulating in the area. Complaints were made to the concerned authorities about the need to replace the cable, but to no avail. The office bearers of the Perayathupara Residents Association demanded that the cable be replaced immediately.
