NEW DELHI: The details surrounding Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited and his family frequently make headlines on social media. Recently, the focus has shifted to a luxurious gift Mukesh Ambani presented to his confidant, Manoj Modi.

Manoj Modi has been a pivotal figure in the growth of the Reliance Group. He has been associated with the company since its inception under Dhirubhai Ambani, Mukesh's father. Over the years, he has developed a close relationship with the Ambani family, playing a crucial role in the company's expansion, particularly during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the leadership of Akash Ambani, Jio also secured a significant investment of ₹43,000 crore from Facebook in April 2020.

While details about Manoj Modi's total assets are not publicly available, the luxury 22-story building gifted to him by Mukesh Ambani in 2022 has garnered attention. Located near Nepean Sea Road in Mumbai, the building is valued at approximately ₹1,500 crore, with the first seven floors for car parking. This exclusive neighbourhood is home to other prominent industrialists, including Sajjan Jindal, Chairman of the JSW Group, who owns a sea-facing residence known as Maheshwari House, acquired in 2011 for ₹400 crore.

The bond between Mukesh Ambani and Manoj Modi dates back to their college days when they both studied Chemical Engineering at Mumbai University. After graduating, Manoj joined Reliance Industries in 1980 and became a director in 2007. Notably, he is a private individual who remains disconnected from social media and little is known about his family, which includes his wife and two daughters.
