THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The alleged assault of Youth Congress workers inside an IndiGo flight by E.P. Jayarajan and the then Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s gunmen will be investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said on Wednesday. The decision comes after the court rejected an earlier report that cleared Jayarajan of the allegations. Chennithala said a fresh investigation will be conducted by an SIT led by an Assistant Commissioner. He made the announcement during a press conference.
Chennithala also announced that 1000 Home Guards will be appointed soon to support the police in maintaining law and order and ensuring internal security. He said the government will purchase sky lifts for firefighting operations in high-rise buildings. Swimming training will be provided for children. Self-defence programmes will be introduced with the support of residential associations. Ramesh Chennithala also clarified that changes will be brought to the force in accordance with the changing climate.
