NEW DELHI: The national capital witnessed widespread damages in the heavy rains that lashed Sunday early morning. Major damages were witnessed in Delhi NCR. Waterlogging occurred at various places in the NCR following the rains. Waterlogging is severe in Moti Bagh, Minto Road and Terminal 1 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The main roads leading to the airport have been submerged. More than 200 flights were affected due to the winds blowing at a speed of 60 to 100 kmph. The planes were unable to land or take off.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also advised people to stay indoors as trees were uprooted in the strong winds. The IMD advised people to avoid traveling, unplug electrical appliances, avoid standing under trees, avoid using phones due to the possibility of strong thunderstorms, and keep emergency kits or flashlights ready.
