10 patients charred to death in major fire at hospital in Bihar

PATNA: A major fire broke out at a private hospital in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district. Reports say 10 patients were charred to death. The fire broke out in the intensive care unit of the private hospital Prasad. Rescue operations are ongoing. The death toll is likely to rise. The fire broke out at around 3 am Thursday. Efforts are on to douse the flames.

Initial reports say the fire was due to a short circuit. There has been no official confirmation on this. Muzaffarpur District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen confirmed that there were 13 patients in the ICU and a few patients in the CCU at the time of the incident. He added that an investigation will be conducted into the incident.
