DHARMASTHALA: Silence and shock prevailed over the initial uproar as the Dharmasthala case witnessed a crazy twist, leading to the arrest of one person. Police arrested the former sanitation worker, the whistleblower who alleged that scores of women, including minors, were being assaulted and buried on the banks of the Netravati River.
Almost half a crore rupees was spent on excavating the land where the sanitation worker alleged one of the nation’s most barbaric crimes ever committed.
Sujatha Bhatt, who claimed to be the mother of missing Ananya Bhatt, changed her statement. Sujatha Bhatt told the media that she made up the statements about missing her daughter in the temple in 2003, following threats from activists Girish Mattannavar and T. Jayanth. Sujatha apologised to the people of the country and said that she yearns to live a peaceful life.
Sujatha's brother confirmed that his sister never had a daughter, and all of those statements were fabricated lies. The brother also said that Sujatha’s fortunes changed, and she is now a millionaire all of a sudden.
Sujatha had earlier claimed that her daughter Ananya was a medical student in Mangaluru and Manipal. However, the special investigation team found that Ananya Bhatt's name does not appear in any of the official documents of this institution. Apart from a passport-sized photograph, no evidence has been produced to prove that such a person existed. The investigation report also states that the photograph shown by Sujatha is of Vasanthi, the daughter-in-law of Rangaprasad, with whom she was earlier in love.
