KOZHIKODE: The statement of Shibin Lal, accused in the case of a sooter-borne group robbing Rs 40 lakh from the employees of a private bank, has surfaced. He told police that he threw the bag containing the money on the road.

He also told police that there was only Rs one lakh in the bag. The police will question him in detail. The bag containing Rs 40 lakh was robbed from the employees at around 1 pm last Wednesday.

A black bag with the money was snatched from the hands of a private bank staff Aravind. Shibin Lal snatched the bag from Aravind on Ramanattukara Panthirankavu Road to Mangava. The complaint is that he later got into a black Jupiter vehicle and fled from the area.

Shibin Lal had pawned gold worth around Rs 38 lakh at Akshaya Financiers. Shibin Lal requested that this be transferred to a private bank, ESAF, at a higher interest rate. In order to transfer the gold, the money for this must be paid first. It is indicated that he committed the robbery for this.
