Actress Divya Unni returns to USA amid reports of police interrogation in Uma Thomas’ accident case

KOCHI: Actress and dancer Divya Unni has returned to USA from Kerala. The police had earlier said that her statement will be recorded in the incident of Uma Thomas MLA getting injured. She returned in between this. Divya Unni left from Kochi airport last night at 11.30 on a flight to America via Singapore.

After her marriage, Divya Unni has been settled in America with her family for years. The actress reached Kerala in November 2024. She returned while the investigation related to financial fraud was moving towards her. Divya Unni was the brand ambassador of the event. The remuneration received by the actress through this event was to be investigated.

The police had informed that after questioning the organizers completely, a notice would be issued to others and their statements will be recorded. The police informed that the statements of movie actors Sijoy Varghese and Divya Unni, who participated in the programme, will be taken. Information is being collected from the dance teachers who participated in the programme.

Meanwhile, a joint inspection report has been released confirming the security lapse at the venue in which Uma Thomas fell and was injured during the dance event. The report said the temporarily erected venue did not have sufficient strength and that there is a serious lapse from the side of the organizers. The serious lapse was noticed during a joint inspection conducted by the police, fire rescue and public works department.

There were no medical facilities near the venue to face emergency situations. The report also said there was no ambulance near the VIP stage which delayed the provision of emergency medical care. The police had taken the CEO of Mridanga Vision, the organizers of the dance event, into custody during the dance programme. The one taken into custody is Shameer Abdullah Rahim. The manager of Oscar Events was arrested earlier. Mridanga Vision CEO and MD had approached the high court for anticipatory bail.
