AIIMS should be set up in Kasaragod, CM wants it in Kozhikode, says Rajmohan Unnithan

KASARGOD: Rajmohan Unnithan MP said the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) should be set up in Kasaragod itself. There has been a fight with Pinarayi Vijayan in every meeting convened. He said the chief minister is insisting on Kozhikode. He also spoke against Suresh Gopi. People who recently joined the BJP is not aware of the issue. Opposing Suresh Gopi's demand to set up AIIMS in Alappuzha. AIIMS should be set up in Kasaragod itself, he said.

Meantime, the BJP Alappuzha district leadership rejected Suresh Gopi's statement. Advocate P K Binoy clarified the BJP's stand is that AIIMS can be established anywhere in Kerala. He clarified that Alappuzha should not be specifically pointed for AIIMS and it is up to Suresh Gopi to clarify why he chose Alappuzha.

Union Minister Suresh Gopi had said several times in the Kalunk debate that he would not contest elections or engage in election activities without laying the foundation stone for AIIMS in Kerala. Suresh Gopi opined that it should be set up in Alappuzha.

The CPM had also harshly criticized Suresh Gopi. Alappuzha district secretary R Nassar clarified that there is no truth in what Suresh Gopi is saying and that the Center has not informed Kerala of any decision regarding AIIMS and that it is known that the Center has not taken any decision on the issue.
