THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bevco will sell liquor at premium counters through UPI and card payments starting from tomorrow. Bevco MD Harshita Attalluri directed authorities to implement cashless payments at all self-help premium counters in the state from March 15th. Notices in this regard, including in Hindi, have been displayed in front of the outlets.

The management believes that eliminating currency exchange will reduce congestion at the counters and ensure accurate transaction records. The decision was strongly opposed by employee organisations. Employees point out that the possibility of disputes at the counters will increase due to technical glitches, network problems, and customers unfamiliar with card/UPI payments.
