KANNUR: More information has emerged about the car found parked under suspicious circumstances near the Pilathara Cooperative College in Pariyaram. The Grand Vitara with Thalassery registration was found abandoned. The police have found that the car was stolen by a gang of assailants. The car belongs to Ashok Kumar of Maharashtra and a gold merchant in Thalassery.

Ashok Kumar, his wife, two children and driver were coming to Thalassery from Maharashtra in the car. After crossing Kalikadavu, the gang of assailants who had been following Ashok's car in another vehicle intercepted his car. After pulling out the people in the car, the assailants fled with the car. Ashok and his family later went to Thalassery in another car. They later filed a complaint with the police. Meanwhile, the car was found abandoned in the morning.

The car was found by people who had come for a walk in the morning. They immediately informed the police. Clothes, bags and shoes, including those of women and children, were found scattered near the car. There were blood stains inside the car. It was while the police arrived and inspected that they received information that Ashok Kumar had filed a complaint with the Thalassery police.

The police suspect that gold smugglers are behind the incident. The police are investigating whether gold and money were lost from the car. Ashok Kumar and the driver were injured while defending themselves from the assailants. The police said that's how the blood stains appeared on the car.
