KASARGOD: A police officer, who allegedly shared a WhatsApp post insulting minister K M Shaji by calling him a communalist, is likely to face disciplinary action soon. The message was shared by Sujith, a Civil Police Officer attached to Vellarikkundu Police Station. Following the incident, the Special Branch submitted a report to the district police chief. The controversial message was circulated in a WhatsApp group named 'Police Friends' in Kasaragod district.
The message began with comments about former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan attending the swearing-in ceremony of the UDF government. It later included personal remarks targeting K M Shaji.
‘Pinarayi Vijayan attended the swearing-in ceremony of the UDF cabinet. Watch this video carefully. The UDF had boycotted the previous two swearing-in ceremonies, citing weak excuses. That is their culture. Today, you can see Congress leaders and Kerala Congress leaders welcoming Pinarayi Vijayan without considering any of that. You can also see Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who once called Pinarayi “deadly poison,” and N K Premachandran, who had used insulting words against him. But you can also see one communalist wiping his face with a towel and standing aside- K M Shaji, who keeps talking only about religion even in his sleep. Anyone can shout abuses into a microphone in front of followers and act like a hero, Shaji. But your knees will shake when you stand in front of that man. You are only going to tremble even more,’ the post read.
District police authorities have indicated that action in the matter is likely soon.
