THRISSUR: Nattika MLA and CPI Mandal Committee member C.C. Mukundan, who had publicly criticised the leadership, was expelled from the primary membership. The decision was taken at the Nattika Mandal Committee meeting. The meeting assessed that C.C. Mukundan, who is representing the party as Nattika MLA, has been carrying out anti-party activities with impunity. M.V. Suresh presided over the meeting. State Executive Member Adv.V.S.Sunil Kumar, District Secretary K.G.Sivanandan, District Asst. Secretary Adv.T.R.Ramesh Kumar, District Executive Members Sheena Parayangattil and K.P.Sandeep attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, dissent arose inside Congress over the move to support C.C. Mukundan. People, including the Mandal President, took an opposing stance on the move. The local Congress leaders argued that it was unwise to roll the red carpet for the ‘scrap’ thrown by the CPI. The Congress deemed that the political situation at Nattika was conducive for the party, and it did not matter if the candidate was C.C. Mukundan or Geetha Gopi.

Senior leaders, including AIC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, MP, and Ramesh Chennithala, were reportedly in touch with Mukundan. At the same time, the DCC said that the leadership had not given any instructions regarding holding talks with Mukundan.
