THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One more person was arrested in the death of Sivasurya (18), a native of Pallichal, in Vedivachankovil two days ago. During the investigation by a special team, the Naruvamoodu police arrested Priyadarshan (20), a native of Vedivachankovil, from Kalliyoor.
Karthikeyan (21), Ajith (20), and Aromal (21), natives of Pallichal, were arrested on the same day of the incident. All four arrested, including Priyadarshan, were remanded. Although another person was investigated in the incident, the police stated that he was not involved. The murder was a result of a dispute over a football game on the turf a year and a half ago.
The incident took place around 8 pm on Saturday. Sivasurya, who was returning from work at a private firm, was taken to a bungalow in Bhagavathinada by Karthikeyan to settle the previous dispute. The talk proved futile, and an agreement was not reached. While the talks were ongoing, the other accused came on two bikes. The talks soon morphed to a physical fight, and Sivasurya was pushed through the glass door of a roadside clothing shop. The glass shattered, and a few pieces of it penetrated his body. Though everything seemed normal, and when the accused were about to leave the place, Sivasurya collapsed on the road. The panicked accused then took Sivasurya to Shanthivilla Taluk Hospital. The victim was then shifted to the Medical College, but he died. The police said that the investigation is ongoing and that an application will be filed to take the accused into custody after two days.
