Vithura native to take part in mission to rescue 40 workers trapped inside tunnel in Char Dham

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - Ranjith Israel, a Malayali, will also participate in the mission to rescue 40 workers trapped in a tunnel on the Chardham pilgrimage route in Uttarakhand. Ranjith is a native of Vithura and is en route to Uttarakhand to participate in the mission of the National Disaster Response Force. Ranjith volunteered to participate in operations in Uttarakhand as he had participated in several missions with the National Disaster Response Force.

Ranjith participated in rescue operations in natural disasters like the cloudburst in Uttarakhand in 2013, the flood disaster in 2018, the landslides in Kavalapara in 2019 and Pettimudi in 2020, and the Tapovan tunnel disaster in Uttarakhand. He is a member of the National Disaster Response Force.

Ranjith wanted to become a commando in the army, but an illness at the age of 21 crushed his military dreams. He has shown his talent in wrestling, body building and swimming. He was the junior Mr. Trivandrum three times. He received training in life saving techniques, mountain climbing and forest survival techniques from Goa National Institute. Ranjith works in this field without seeking remuneration.
