KOTTATYAM: A woman trapped in the building at the Kottayam Medical College has died. She was taken out after trapped inside the building for two-and-a half-hours. The dead is Bindu of Thalayolaparambu. She died soon after taken out from the debris. The delay in conducting the rescue operations was criticized. The ministers first responded that it was an empty building.

Bindu was unconscious when taken out. She was then taken to the casualty and given emergency treatment, but her life could not be saved. Bindu's daughter informed that her mother, who had gone to the toilet in the collapsed building, did not return and that she was not answering her phone calls. With this, a JCB was brought in and the fire department and police conducted an inspection. Bindu was found around 1 pm. Bindu came to the hospital for her daughter's treatment.

The accident happened around 11 am this morning. A very old three-storied building collapsed. The orthopedic surgery department was previously operating in this building. The washroom was also located in this building. A major disaster was averted as not many people were present.
