KOTTAYAM: With two weeks left for the Puthuppally by-election campaign, the Left Front has deftly placed the stalled development plans in the constituency to counter Oommen Chandy's sympathy wave. Meanwhile, UDF has wriggled out of the development issues and is hollering about the tainted new corruption stories featuring CM’s daughter Veena Vijayan.

MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan opting Kottayam for his last press conference also falls into the plan. The Chief Minister along with other ministers will campaign in eight panchayats in the coming days. The first discussion meeting regarding development issues was held in Puthuppally on Sunday under the leadership of former Finance Minister Dr. Thomas Isaac.

Meanwhile, adding to the punch, Minister V N Vasavan agreed on a debate with any of the local leaders of UDF. He also lashed out at the opposition leader's stance of agreeing to debate only with CM Pinarayi Vijayan, which he called 'running away from the debate'.

“It took the LDF government to give a needed facelift to St. George SHS school, where Oommen Chandy studied.” Minister V N Vasavan said in an attempt to praise the current governance.
