THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated in the Assembly that Kerala can no longer tolerate the protests against the waste treatment plants. He also said that the state cannot afford protests that are planned and organized with narrow interests.
"The lesson imparted by Brahmapuram is that the state-wide task of waste management must be implemented on a war footing and without compromise. The responsibilities of the state government, local bodies and individuals will be determined in this regard and a comprehensive action plan will be implemented in a timely manner. Arrangements will be made for the scientific treatment of solid and liquid waste, building waste, bio-medical waste and e-waste. Extensive campaign programs will be organized to create awareness among the people. The government will ensure strict implementation of waste management rules and regulations across the state. Strict action will be taken against violators," he said.
