NEW DELHI: The congress is all set to intensify the protest over the defamation case against Rahul Gandhi. The party will organize a silent satyagraha in support of Rahul on July 12. The Congress will approach the Supreme Court demanding a stay of the lower court verdict against Rahul.

Rahul Gandhi's disqualification converting into votes in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections has given confidence to the congress. The decision of the Congress is to strengthen the protest by showing that the BJP is hunting Rahul. The PCCs have been directed to organize a satyagraha in front of the Gandhi statue in all the state capitals on July 12. The AICC has also directed that the participation of maximum number of people including people's representatives and feeder organizations should be ensured.

Rahul getting more acceptance than inside the Lok Sabha as a mere Congress worker also gives hope to the Congress. The Congress is worried that if there is no favourable verdict from the Supreme Court, Rahul will have to serve two years in prison and will not be able to contest the next two general elections. Therefore, the Congress is planning to move the Supreme Court with a plea to close the loopholes.
