Mammootty along with Dulquer pay homage to Siddique

KOCHI: Actor Mammootty, arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Kadavanthra to pay his last respects to director Siddique, who bid adieu to the film fraternity. He was accompanied by his son Dulquer Salmaan and actor Ramesh Pisharody. He left after consoling Siddique's family. The body was taken to his house in Ernakulam Kakkanad Pallikkara around one in the morning and then was brought to the stadium for public viewing at 9 am. Many people from the film industry paid their last respects.

Directors Kamal, Sibi Malayil, actors Lal, Jayaram, Vineeth, director Siyad Kokkar, friend Rehman and many others are in the stadium. Director B Unnikrishnan, actor Lal, producer Anto Joseph were in the hospital yesterday. It was Unnikrishnan who informed the demise of the director to the media. He died while undergoing treatment in Amrita Hospital at 9.02 pm. After the public homage, the body will be taken to his house in Pallikkara again at 11.30 am. He will be laid to rest at the Ernakulam Central Juma Masjid at 6 pm will full state honours.

Siddique was admitted in the hospital on July 10 due to pneumonia and liver ailments. He was shifted from the ICU five days back after he felt better. All arrangements were being taken for liver transplant. His daughter was willing to donate her liver.

In the meanwhile, things changed as he suffered a heart attack on Monday. He was again shifted to the ICU. His kidneys stopped functioning. He was on ECMO support.
