Shelna Nishad, LDF independent candidate from Aluva, dies

ALUVA: Shelna Nishad (36), who was LDF independent candidate in the Aluva constituency in the assembly elections, died here on Sunday. She was undergoing treatment following a bone marrow transplant. She died at a private hospital in Kochi around 2 pm.

She was undergoing treatment for cancer for quite some time. Shelna contested against Aluva sitting MLA Anwar Sadath in the last assembly elections. She garnered 54,817 votes and Anwar Sadath 73,703 votes.

Shelna Nishad was an architect. She leaves behind her husband Nishad Ali, son of longtime Aluva MLA K Muhammadali. She will be laid to rest tomorrow at 10 am at Aluva Town Juma Masjid. Anwar Sadath MLA condoled the death of Shelna.
