CHENNAI: Actor Mansoor Ali Khan has issued an apology for the misogynistic remarks he made against actress Trisha. He issued a press release apologising to the actress, albeit a tad less sincerely, after the Chennai police registered a case against him.

"I understood that I had hurt the feelings of my colleague Trisha. Please forgive me. May God bless the fortune for me to bless your Mangalyam (mangalsutra) as it goes around in the coconut tray in the auspicious marital ritual! Amen. ---Mansoor Ali Khan,' the press release read.

The Chennai police registered the case against Mansoor Ali Khan as per the directions of DGP Shankar Jiwal. Sources said that Mansoor has been booked under sections 354A (sexual assault) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. The action was taken after the National Commission for Women filed a complaint on the matter.

Mansoor Ali Khan made the controversial remarks against Trisha during a recent interview. "When I heard that I was acting in Leo with Trisha, I thought there would be a bedroom scene with her. I have done such scenes in old movies. But they did not even show Trisha on the shooting sets in Kashmir.", Mansoor said.

Trisha had reacted sharply on the issue by sharing Mansoor Ali Khan's video. The actress took to social media to say that his comments were sexist and misogynistic. "I will never share screen space with Mansoor Ali Khan. His remarks are not just disappointing but reflect a mindset that has no place in our industry." she tweeted.
