NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday gave a special instruction to the BJP MPs who came to attend the parliamentary party meeting in Delhi. The Prime Minister directed the MPs to avoid addressing him as 'Modiji' or 'Adarniya Modiji.'

The Prime Minister said adding formal titles before or after his name would create distance between him and the people. Quoting a BJP MP who attended the meeting, national media reported that Prime Minister Modi said that he was an ordinary worker of the party and each worker considered him a part of the family. He also requested that he should be seen as one of the common people of the country.

Modi also emphasised that the victory of the BJP in the recently held assembly elections in three states was not just the victory of the leaders in Delhi but also of the workers who devoted their lives to serving the party and the people in their areas. The Prime Minister pointed out that collective effort was the reason for the election victory in the three states.

Meanwhile, the BJP MPs gave a warm welcome to Narendra Modi when he came to the parliamentary party meeting. The reception was led by Union Ministers Amit Shah, Piyush Goyal and Prahlad Joshi. BJP national president, JP Nadda, welcomed and congratulated him by presenting him a garland.
