Government aims to complete development: Chief Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said that the state government was trying to complete the development works that it started. He was speaking at a press conference held in connection with the Nava Kerala Sadas.

"Since 2017, the state has faced many crises. However, the Centre is taking a denial stand. No government can pretend that it has not seen the public sentiment expressed as part of the New Kerala Sadas," the CM said.

"Kerala has approached the Supreme Court challenging the Centre's action against the country's federal structure. As a result of this, it is hoped that the Centre will change its stand. After seeing the public participation in the Nava Kerala Sadas, the Union Finance Minister was forced to say that Kerala was not being neglected by the Centre. The Congress, which remained silent on the central neglect, said it would move a resolution against it in Parliament. This shows the strength of the people," he added.

The Chief Minister also accused the Opposition Leader of promoting violence in the name of protest against Nava Kerala Sadas. "From the very first day of the Sadas, have been saying that no one should get provoked. I have never seen a leader who said that there should be beating, beating, beating when a program like this is going on," he said.

When quizzed about the High Court's criticism against the government on the issue of Mariyakutty, the Chief Minister said the court's remark need not be seen as criticism against the government.

Journalists could question if police action is not correct
The Chief Minister said that journalists could question the police action of registering a case against them if they feel that the action was not right.

"The case was filed based on police evidence. What you say is based on conjecture. Necessary steps can be taken if the action of the police is wrong," he said.
