Gunshots fired at Kerala Police in Rajasthan's Ajmer; notorious gang arrested after three-hour-long effort

JAIPUR: Kerala police officials who reached Rajasthan’s Ajmer tracking two infamous chain snatchers escaped death by a whisker after the assailants fired shots at them. As per the report, no one was injured in the incident.

The police reached Ajmer in search of Shehzad and Sajid, natives of Uttarakhand, who have made it a habit to snatch gold ornaments from different parts of Kerala and then leave for North India in a scurry. Kerala police first spotted the culprits near the Dargah Road police station.

The dreadful firing took place when the police tried to arrest the accused. The assailants fired three rounds at the police. However, after a three-hour-long effort, the police overpowered the two assailants. Two illegal guns and ammunition were seized from them.

According to reports, the two are history sheeters and have cases registered in various parts of the country, including Kerala.
