KOCHI: As part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations, Neethi Medical Stores under ConsumerFed will offer discounts of 16 to 70 per cent on branded and generic medicines. The new price will come into effect from March 3 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Neethi Medical Stores. Chairman M Mehboob informed that this is according to the new pricing policy of Consumerfed.
The decision is a relief to common people. An increase in sales with price reduction will also help the survival of Neethi stores. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the Silver Jubilee celebrations on March 3 at 4 pm at Angamaly Adlux Convention Center. A project to provide drugs to dialysis and cancer patients at low cost will also be launched on that day.
There are 1,238 Neethi Medical stores in the state, including 1,164 run by cooperative societies and 74 run directly by Consumerfed. It will be increased to 1500. The Neethi Medical Scheme was implemented under Consumerfed in 1998 when Pinarayi Vijayan was the Cooperative Minister.
600 crore turnover target
Consumerfed aims to increase the annual turnover of Neethi Medical Stores from Rs 300 crore to Rs 600 crore. The medicine covers will be made on their own.
Neethi Medicals is gearing up to launch more stores in its 25th year.
