NENMARA: A 17-year-old student from Chathamangalam in Nenmara is undergoing treatment at the Taluk Hospital after allegedly being beaten up by the Nenmara police without provocation. The incident occurred on Monday at around 11 am when the boy went to a shop in Nenmara to buy some items.

According to the complaint filed by the boy's family, the 17-year-old was purchasing some items from the shop when the police officers called him to their jeep, grabbed his hair, and beat him on his head and face. The Palakkad SP has directed the Alathur DySP to conduct an investigation and submit a report on the incident.

Meanwhile, the police officers claimed that they only asked some questions to the 17-year-old while conducting an investigation regarding the drug sellers in the area. However, the CCTV footage from the nearby shop clearly shows that the boy was assaulted by the police. The footage shows the officer, seated in the front seat of the jeep, calling the boy to the jeep, grabbing his hair and pulling his head into the jeep.

"I went to Nenmara to buy an electrical focus light. I was standing in front of the store when the police officers arrived there in a jeep and called me over. The officer grabbed my hair and pulled me inside, beating me multiple times. When I tried to move away, they held my hair tightly and hit my head against the door. After that, I somehow managed to escape from them and went to my home," the boy said.

The boy later sought treatment at the Nenmara Government Hospital after experiencing headaches and other difficulties. Although the boy's father went to the police station demanding that a case be filed against the officers for beating his son without any provocation, the police officers refused to file a case. They even tried to settle the matter. MLA K. Babu visited the boy at the hospital and directed the police to take strict action against the culprits.
