Four teens including relative of eighth class held in murder of man in Haripad

HARIPAD: Four have been taken into custody in connection with the murder of a man, who was alone at home. Teens including the man’s relative, a girl of class eight, are those taken into custody. The dead is Sivankutty Chettiyar (65) of Karur in Ambalappuzha, staying in a rented house at Karuvatta ninth ward Madappurakkal. The body was found Monday morning at 9 am. The police had informed that six sovereigns of gold which was in the almirah and his body are found missing.

Sivankutty was alone in the house. His daughter Sreekala was admitted in Alappuzha Medical College for delivery. His wife was with her in the hospital.

The police believe that it was a murder following theft. The four teenagers including the girl were taken into custody following suspicion. The other three are natives of Paravur in Kollam. They are aged 17. The police suspect that the girl may have informed them about the gold in Sivankutty’s house.

The boys entered the house after breaking the sheet of the house. It is reported that they killed Sivankutty during the robbery attempt. It is also reported that they informed the girl about the incident through a video call. Sivankutty is a native of Kollam. Sivankutty's relatives, including the girl, had been living in Kollam for a long time. That is how the girl got acquainted with the boys. The police are questioning the four in detail.
