NEW DELHI: With just months left for the Delhi assembly elections, BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party have taken their animosity to the next level. In an unusual development, the official residence of the Chief Minister was sealed by the PWD authorities on Wednesday.
It is reported that Delhi CM Atishi had taken up residence at 6, Flagstaff Road, Civil Lines without permission. When former CM Arvind Kejriwal vacated the residence, the key was handed over directly to Atishi rather than following the due process of informing the PWD officials.
Atishi shifted to the residence last Monday without even waiting for the official allotment letter from the department. At the same time, the Lieutenant Governor's office has revealed that Atishi will be granted residence after following the procedures.
The Vigilance Directorate had earlier issued a show cause notice to three officials, including Kejriwal's special secretary, seeking an explanation for not handing over the keys to the Public Works Department.
Atishi's office alleged that the chief minister's belongings were forcibly evicted from the house on the instructions of Lt. Governor VK Saxena. BJP Delhi Unit President Virendra Sachdeva raised suspicion about Kejriwal's move to not hand over the keys to the Public Works Department. Sachdeva alleged the house has many secrets related to AAP’s shady business.
