THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: City police commissioner G Sparjan Kumar has said his report that it has 'not been found' that the WhatsApp group of Hindu and Muslim IAS officers was formed by hacking the phones of Industries Department Director K Gopalakrishnan. The report was handed over to DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib.
Google, WhatsApp and internet service providers are denying hacking. Hacking could not be detected in the forensic examination as well. Hacking cannot be identified as the information on the phones has been removed. Internet service providers also informed that an IP address, which does not belong to Gopalakrishnan's phone, was not used to form groups. These reports were handed over to the DGP.
The police have decided not to register a case as of now as only whatsapp groups were formed but messages were not exchanged. Further action will be taken as per the instructions of the government. WhatsApp groups were created with Gopalakrishnan as admin on October 30. The complaint was lodged after the information came to light.
Meantime, Gopalakrishnan is repeating his statement that the groups were formed by hacking his phone and that he came to know about it through his friends. However, if WhatsApp is hacked, then it cannot be controlled by the original account holder and the groups cannot be deleted, police said. Not being able to find other IP addresses is also a blow to the hacking claim. A group of Muslim officials was also formed when it came to light that a group of Hindu officials had been formed.
