'Ten years of LDF rule made many arrogant, situation worse', says CPM leader Thomas Issac

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Communist Party Marxist leader and former finance minister of Kerala, Dr Thomas Isaac suggested the party seriously introspect on the loss suffered in the assembly elections. Issac also admitted that people gave a shock treatment to CPM in the elections.

"After ruling for ten years, the party members became arrogant. The candidates should be decided taking into account the feelings of the people. It would be ideal if party members behave humbly with people." Issac was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the local committee office in Vallikunnam, Alappuzha.

"Not everything people say is necessarily true. But as political workers, it is our duty to listen to them. There has been a setback, including corruption in cooperative banks. We need to correct it. It is not enough to just correct it. People should also feel that we have become better." Isaac added that the present setback affecting CPM is arguably the worst the party has ever faced.
