Shone George and Parvathy are a popular couple in Kerala. Parvathy is the daughter of veteran actor Jagathy Sreekumar while Shone, a politician prodigy, is the son of seven-time MLA PC George. Shone hails from a typical Christian family while Parvathy has a Hindu background. Soon after their marriage Parvathy converted to Christianity. And now, Jagathy’s son Rajkumar is here with an anecdote into the little-known story about the marriage.

Rajkumar:

“When Parvathy confessed her love, my mother was in shock. Parvathy chose a Christian partner and my mother turned nervous expecting a flurry of apprehensive responses from family members. The same thought also went through me and I was aghast. But my father took the whole situation in his typical aloof attitude.

As soon as Parvathy revealed the news, Papa dialled PC George.

‘Hope you have got the news” This was Papa’s first response after contacting Shone’s father by phone.

Papa had only one demand. Parvathy should be converted to Christianity. He didn't question Parvathy's choice of faith but wanted her to undergo Baptism. This was a move to secure his daughter’s life from future squabbles within the family. As per Papa’s request, Parvathy went through baptism and got rechristened as Alphonsa. But we still call her Paru.

Shone and I went to the same college at the same time. But interestingly, we never saw each other until the proposal came up."
