Holiday declared for educational institutions in nine districts; red alert in Ernakulam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A holiday was declared for educational institutions in nine districts of Kerala. Collectors declared a holiday for educational institutions in Pathanamthitta, Wayanad, Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Malappuram, Palakkad, Kannur and Kozhikode districts, considering the heavy rainfall and landslide threats. As the rain continues unabated, all educational institutions, including professional colleges in Kottayam district, will be closed today.

The holiday also applies to Anganwadis, tuition centres and special classes. There will be no change in the scheduled exams. All educational institutions, including professional colleges in Idukki, will be closed. A red alert has been declared in six districts for the coming hours, including Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. An orange alert has been issued for all the remaining districts.
