NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the Constitution Day celebrations held at the Supreme Court, emphasized that the Indian Constitution has successfully fulfilled the country’s aspirations and needs, serving as a guiding light for its ongoing transformation.
Addressing the event, Modi highlighted the Constitution's enduring strength, particularly in enabling its full implementation in Jammu and Kashmir. For the first time, Constitution Day was celebrated in the region, marking a significant milestone in its history.
Reflecting on the original copy of the Constitution, the Prime Minister noted the inclusion of illustrations representing India’s rich cultural heritage, such as depictions of Lord Ram and Sita, which he described as reminders of eternal human values.
"As we commemorate the 75th anniversary of our Constitution, we bow in gratitude to its architects and members of the Constituent Assembly," Modi said.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, paying tribute to the victims and reaffirming India’s resolve to counter all threats to its security.
During the event, Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna presented a drawing created by a prisoner from Tihar Jail to the Prime Minister. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Supreme Court judges, including Justices B R Gavai and Surya Kant and Supreme Court Bar Association President Kapil Sibal were among the dignitaries present.
