KOZHIKODE: Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu and dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi had a verbal war at the Kerala Literature Festival. The dispute was related to WCC. The incident took place during a discussion on the topic of 'Women and Cinema'. Parvathy described WCC as "A place to talk openly about anything. Anyone can come there and say what they want to say. Anyone who wants to criticize can also come there,". Bhagyalakshmi was replying to this.

"This organization should become more protective of people. I think it would be good if the WCC made an effort to provide a space to sit and talk and spend some time with people. Then more people will try to come to you. "How shall we go to them, madam?" Women ask me that. They may not be dubbing artists, they may have no complaints. The ones asking are many other artists, women who are technicians and so on. There are questions of "How shall we go there madam? Who shall we go to?" being raised here. What I want to tell you in front of so many people is that you should consider those questions too. I came here thinking I would just sit here and listen. But I felt it is not like that, there should be a suggestion from my side,'' Bhagyalakshmi said.

This was Parvati's reply. “Chechi, you know me well. You will have no problem getting my number. Why don't you join the collective?”

Bhagyalakshmi's reply also came. "Before all of you were going to complain to the Chief Minister, we had said that you would discuss it with me and that we would go together..., What I saw next was news on television that you have all met the minister. So I called and asked…, “Why didn't you call me?” I did not ask why nobody called me to meet the minister. What I meant was the discussion that was supposed to happen before that. When asked about it, the answer given to me by one of your group members was, “Some of us opinioned you not join us”. So when the people in your group said I thought., “Well, if you don't like me, I won't join. That's why I didn't come to WCC."
