Hacked with knife, skull broken with gas cylinder; Amina brutally murdered by son at Malappuram

MALAPPURAM: Son kills his mother by hacking and breaking her skull. The incident took place in Tirur, Malappuram. The deceased is Amina (62), wife of Ponmundam Kavappura Nannatt native Abu. The police have taken their son Muzammil (25) into custody. He is believed to have mental problems.

The incident took place around 7 am today. Muzammil, who had returned home from Abu's meat shop in the morning, slashed Amina, who was working in the kitchen, with a large knife, without any particular provocation. Then he took a gas cylinder from the kitchen and hit her on the head. With this, Amina, whose skull was fractured, died on the spot.

Muzammil remained at home after the murder. The police arrived and took him into custody. The inquest has been completed. Forensic experts examined the scene.
